In honor of the UT Gardens’ 25th Anniversary, Dr. Sue Hamilton will lead this tour which focuses on the best silver foliage plants.  Silver foliage brightens up the garden and blends beautifully with almost any color.

Luxurious Lawns
A dense, healthy lawn enhances any landscape and adds value to your home.  Adam Thoms, UT graduate research assistant, knows turf – when to plant, fertilize and mow.  He’ll share his secrets for creating and maintaining a great lawn at this informative talk.

Creating a Butterfly-Friendly Garden
A butterfly garden allows you to enjoy the beauty of butterflies while also contributing to their conservation.  What could be better!  It’s not difficult or expensive; just follow the suggestions given by one of UT’s Entomology Graduate Students to attract caterpillars and butterflies to your yard.

Labyrinths have been used for centuries as a tool for focus and contemplation.  Learn more about the history and modern use of these beautiful structures from Stuart Bartholomaus of Labyrinth Farm.

Are you watering-can dependent?  Summer evenings in the garden need not be spent holding a water hose or dodging sprinklers.  Amanda Plante, UT Gardens staff, will explain how proper plant selection and care can optimize the amount and minimize the frequency of watering.

Visitors to the UT Gardens have very likely seen Dr. Alan Heilman in the process of creating one of his stunning photographs.  Join him as he shares some of his collection along with his tips and techniques for capturing lasting memories of our own garden flowers.

Providing birdhouses can be a great way to make your garden more bird friendly.  Marsha Davis, columnist for the Knoxville News-Sentinel, will demonstrate various bird house designs, both good and bad, and discuss what features to look for when buying bird houses.

There truly are roses that will bloom their little heads off with minimal care and effort.  Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?  Learn about these easy-care roses from Jimmy Mynes, UT graduate research assistant.
